“Evergreen” an Original Poem

Taller every year,
unlike those who cut you down
at the head.
Prickly pointed fingers
holding droplets of clear
water
pounds of snow,
yet you never crack
pine
simply sometimes snap,
to let the white powder
caked ice
fall to the ground.
Found truths of eternity
in your branches,
my majesty.
You own me,
dear pine,
as your exhalations,
your product,
lets me breathe.
I have learned to value
your steadfastness
in the storms of winter.
Proud and green,
you are the Hope in morning.
