“Talking Proud”- Original Poem

Talking Proud
What happened to your grand designs?
When all abandoned you,
you walked the streets alone
following the lonely train lines.

You were such a promising child.
Everyone thought that you would fly
and soar to twinkling stars above.
You fell down, too fast, too wild.

Now you start anew with true friends
who know your heart is not so hard
and cold that you would forget
what honor takes is what duty lends.

You're still talking proud, but now grace lends
a softness to your voice and a love
which guides you to leave your own plans
to support the needs and desires of friends.
